So these were nice looking brown jackets, in nice plastic cover. It says "Italian style" all over inside the jacket and there's some tag with replacement button. It has size tag, but there is nothing else. There's no tag saying where it was made in, what materials were used, nor washing instructions. It only says "EA collection". If the jacket costs $900 each, this must be some kind of known brand, so I looked online.
To my horror, the similar looking jackets were sold on eBay for $0.99 to $30.00, but then the listing says "faux leather", but ours should be real suede as the guys say, but is it? Looking further online, I found a few people posting about the scams by two Italian men who showed 6 leather jacket saying "EA Collection" telling people that these were expensive jackets but they can sell them for good price for one reason or another and they all found that these weren't leather nor made in Italy, but just some fake jacket that doesn't worth more than $30 each. Well, these people were reporting the scams happened in U.S., but looks like these guys are now in Canada. In Toronto last few days.
So I figured, that the jackets weren't real leather. They were still nicely made, but the material feels fake and it has such strong smell. They probably sprayed hard to make it smell like leather. Oh, well, it is too late.
If you encounter anyone selling you Italian leather jacket, please check if there are any labels saying where it made in or what materials are used before paying money to them. Maybe you want to buy a fake nice looking jacket, but if you do, make sure that you pay not more than its worth.

ReplyDeletei am a victim of a same scam ( face palm ) ,i wish there was a way to end this , the play the scam so well that it didnt even occur to me that they were lying , i came back home and i was so happy , and looked back at them again , suddenly , it hit me , theyre all fakes , you can even find grammar mistakes on the plastic cover ,

DeleteI got scammed in Vancouver by one of the Italianns. Same story, merchandice remaining from sales trip. 5foot 6inches around 30 stating that he was from Milano, maxed out credit card, double duty etc. My stupidity in trying to get something on the cheap. Hope this helps others not to fall for this.

DeleteMy mother was scammed today in Chicago. She was approached by 1 guy with the same story that he leaves to Italy, and must get rid off this jackets for cheap price or give it away at airport. My mother bought 4 for $150 each. When I look it up on the Internet, the prices on eBay starts from $28 - $75. I feel sorry for my mom. :(
ReplyDeleteAs Christmas approaches, people are looking for good deals and get scammed more. It is too bad that we read information about such scams after the fact, instead of before. We need to be extra careful buying things from strangers on the street!

ReplyDeleteThey are operating in Edmonton now. I was approached by one of these crooks yesterday at the parking lot of the South Common Superstore. He asked for directions to the airport and then he offered me a jacket for my help and proceeded to sell me 3 more for $300.00 He is a short guy in his 30's. No need to say that I fell for it.

I bought one in a Value Village in Toronto, I paid $15 for it. I am pissed even thought I didn't lose that much money. I have searched the internet and Armani never had a collection called "Italy Style". I feel ripped off now, the same day I bought a fake Versace jacket for $28, it had a "Versace Jeans Couture label. I feel ripped off but at least I have learned my lesson not to fall for brand names.

Story about directions to airport, and that he so happy that you helped out that he wants to give you 2-3 pieces as a gift. after a bit more chit chat etc he mentions he needs to buy ipad for his son as a gift but has on 50eruos left and credit card is maxed out. Asks if you will be happy to help out in the situation and ass if you can provide $600 etc etc. Unfortunately I fell for this scam as I was in a rush I didnt scrutinize the jackets he provided.
