How To Make A Very Easy Diaper Cake

This is the first diaper cake I ever made. Since I saw these diaper cakes at our neighbour Susan's baby shower, I always wanted to make one. Now my friend is pregnant with twins and I have a chance to make one for the first time. There are lots of online tutorials and different ways to make them. Mine might not be as impressive as some of them online, but it wasn't difficult. Here's how I made.

Need 100 diapers, ribbons and two plush animals and cellophane.

  1. Make a tight diaper roll using 10 diapers. Lay one on top of the other and when it is done, bundle with a ribbon.
  2. Using 40 diapers, start rolling around the 10 diaper roll you just made. This will be the bottom tier. Once they are done, bundle with ribbon.
  3. Using 4 diapers, start rolling inner roll of the second tier. Bundle the roll.
  4. Using 32 diapers, roll around this 4 diaper roll. When it is done, bundle with ribbon and put on top of the first tier.
  5. Using 4 diapers, start rolling inner roll of the top tier. Bundle the roll.
  6. Using remaining 10 diapers, roll around this 4 diaper roll. Bundle with ribbon, and place on top.
  7. Place two plush animals on top. I used a small piece of cellophane to bundle the dolls first to make sure that they don't fall from the top.
  8. Then wrap the entire diaper cake with a sheet of cellophane and bundle it with more ribbon.
That's it! As you can see, my friend is pregnant with one boy and one girl, so I used both blue and pink. The diapers I bought weren't white, so I didn't put much of any decoration as they are already quite colourful. For next baby shower (not sure when that might be), I'm planning to make a bit more complicated and impressive one.
