I cut the sweet lime into six pieces, then I sliced orange into six pieces. My intention is to eat each piece of lime and orange at different time and see if I can taste any difference.
Regular clock was used to time.
30 seconds later --- The sweet lime was slightly bitter, but nice and tasted like grapefruit. I had the orange slice after that and it tasted actually more bitterness in it than the sweet lime.
1 minute later --- The sweet lime didn't taste so good. It tasted like dish washing detergent. Not sure if this particular piece wasn't that good or if the time elapse had something to do with this.
1.5 minutes later --- This time, sweet lime tasted better than first two pieces. I felt orange pieces changed the taste as well. I think this was the taste I had at the store. Not sure if I tasted it 1.5 minutes after she cut the pieces.
2 minutes later --- Sweet lime tasted somehow lighter and good. It was about the same taste as 1.5 minutes slice.
3 minutes later --- Now I waited for another one minute instead of thirty seconds. Taste of this piece was still good. Somehow orange piece wasn't as good.
5 minutes later --- Now I waited for two more minutes to try the last piece. The last piece wasn't very good. It tasted like dish washing detergent again. Orange tasted very bitter and bad, too.
What do you think of the result of my experiment? If my tasting was accurately reflecting how the piece changes the taste with time, the best time to eat is between 1.5 minutes to 3 minutes. You can try your own experiment on this, too.
